<p>Jean Passet <i>dit</i> Barbier is first recorded working in London from 1494 to 1498.
In 1502-1503 he is recorded at the address of [[Pierre Levet]] with partnership with Levet and [[François Foucher]].
From 1504 he traded alone, mainly for the bookseller [[Denis Roce]].
He was appointed <i>libraire juré</i> in 1508, from which date he worked mainly for [[Jean Petit]].
His widow married [[Nicolas Bérauld]] who seems to have been his successor in 1516-1517.
There are also books with the name of [[Pierre Leroy]] who seems to have continued part of his business
with [[Jean de La Fosse]] from December 1517, when his material passed to [[Jean II Du Pré]] and thence to [[Guillaume de Bossozel]] in 1523.</p>
